Fluorescent tubes are widely used in commercial and industrial settings because of their efficient, even light distribution. However, without proper maintenance, they can lose brightness or flicker over time.
Safety first: Before replacing any tube, switch off the power at the breaker to prevent electric shock. Wear gloves to protect your hands and prevent skin oils from shortening the tube’s life. When removing the tube, rotate it gently until the pins disengage from the socket.
If you notice consistent flickering or dimming, check the ballast—it may need replacing. A faulty ballast can cause energy waste and reduce tube lifespan. Consider upgrading to LED tubes for better energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and reduced maintenance. Many LED tube models are designed as direct replacements for T8 or T12 fluorescent tubes, making the transition simple and cost-effective.
